The File Menu

The File menu

The File menu contains operations related to the creation and manipulation of files. The available functions are:

• New

  • CiteBook: Create a new CiteBook.

  • Citation: Create a new "virtual notecard" for a textual citation.

  • Author: Create a record for a new author.

  • Publication: Create a record for a new publication (an article, book, etc.)

• Open CiteBook: Open a CiteBook file in order to view and edit its contents (closing any file currently open).

• Save Citebook: Save the contents of the current CiteBook, and assign it a name, if it has not been saved before.

• Save CiteBook As: Save the current CiteBook under a new filename.

• Recent Documents: Provides quick access to the documents most recently opened in TextCite.

• Export PDF: Produce a PDF document containing the specified citations (along with their commentaries, if desired)

• Export in Word Format (RTF): Produce an RTF document with the citations specified, with commentaries optionally included.

• Preferences (On Mac, from the TextCite menu): Manage user preferences.

• Exit: Quit the program.
